Saturday afternoon, Camille and Brooklyn begin walking into the Expo where they will sign up and get registered for the race on Sunday morning. They were so excited to register and also a bit nervous. The Beach Boys music is playing in the background and that makes me excited just to be there too. The sun in shining, warm 75 degrees, we can hear the ocean waves in the background along with Michelle, Natalie, Gavin and Mike talking and laughing.
Camille and Brooklyn pause to get a picture before entering the building for information, and yes, Mike jumps in for a quick picture. Okay girls, let's take it again.
Mother and daughter pause before they take the first step to the Marathon. They are here along with twenty-two thousand people doing the same thing. It is a twenty-six mile run and they will be doing a half marathon.
They are getting their numbers here and paying for their new shirts to begin the race.
Here they are in their new Surf City T-shirts. Proud of you girls.
Natalie and Gavin go to the race and send them off. But Mike and I were at the finish line to welcome them back. Perfect timing for us to be there. This is the only picture that I took of them in the race. But it was the best.
Mike is greeting Brooklyn as she crosses the finish line. So proud of you. She can even still walk.
Camille is so excited after her perfect run. We could not wipe the smiles off their faces.
Brooklyn found Camille two miles before the finish line, and wanted to finish the last length with her as a mother and daughter team. Great partners, girls.
We all crowded around the girls for a picture. We have our jackets around our waists in case it would be a little cold in the morning air.
